Miyazaki Jingu Shrine

An ancient and historic shrine dedicated to Emperor Jimmu, Japan's legendary first Emperor. Step through the gates into the vast forested grounds and you are immediately enveloped in a hush of stillness and a solemn, mystical atmosphere.
Worshippers come to pray for household safety, marital bonds, and the blessing of children; in honor of Emperor Jimmu's legendary triumphs over great hardship, many also visit to pray for success in competitions and examinations.
Throughout the year, the shrine hosts traditional ceremonies such as yabusame, the ancient art of horseback archery. The autumn Miyazaki Jingu Grand Festival holds a special place in local hearts: born from the townspeople's wish to worship their deity closer, it has grown into a beloved celebration featuring a colorful "Shanshan Uma" procession with a flower-adorned bride on horseback and a lively parade of warriors marching through the streets.
